Werk Wednesday!

Happy Humpday, Fashionistas!

I thought I’d leave you with a fashion inspirational quote and a little history lesson to get you through the rest of the week!  Don’t worry, we only  have two more days until the weekend.  You can make it!

Spoken by the late great Ms. Coco Chanel.  Ms. Chanel was born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, but was given the nickname “Coco”, meaning “Kept Woman”, during her brief stint as a singer.  Despite her less than perfect upbringing and adversities (growing up without her mother, being given up by her Father and raised in an orphanage, etc.), Ms. Chanel learned how to sew at an early age, and became one of the most timeless, elegant, innovative and well-respected Fashion pioneers in our history.  She is truly the epitome of a “rags to riches” fairytale.  Although she is most known for her classic little black dresses, suits paired with pearls and signature perfume, believe it or not, she started off selling hats!  However, a style icon was not officially born until on a chilly day, she decided to make a dress out of an old jersey. An old jersey!  Now look how far her legacy has come!

Ms. Chanel was a trendsetter who single-handedly changed the rules of fashion, from tight-fitting corsets to comfortable, chic, men’s fashion-inspired designs.  She said it best, “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.”  Her story continues to inspire me, as it is further confirmation that no matter what you’ve been through or what has happened in your past, you can overcome adversity and become anything you want.  It also reminds me that it is okay to be different and not conform to society’s rules of what fashion should be.  Fashion is what YOU make it; it’s okay to be a little offbeat and chic!

With that being said, enjoy the rest of your week, and continue “dressing to the beat of your own style!”  Coco would be proud!

Ciao 🙂
